We review 12 months of PG&E 15-minute interval data — mapping every demand event, identifying the exact 15-minute windows that have been setting your monthly charge, and analyzing your TOU consumption pattern by hour of day and day of week. You receive a written Demand Charge Analysis showing: which events are driving your bill, what's achievable with battery energy storage (BESS) + solar, and what's not. No proposal until you've seen this analysis.
Concurrent with analysis, VoltBlock conducts a site survey — roof structural assessment, electrical service review, panel locations, and shading analysis. From this we engineer the complete Demand Shield system: BESS capacity and power rating, solar array size and layout, optional EMS dispatch logic, defrost cycle reprogramming plan, and compressor restart sequencing. You receive a detailed proposal with projected demand reduction, energy savings, SGIP rebate, and payback.
VoltBlock manages all permitting with local jurisdictions, PG&E interconnection application, SGIP rebate reservation, and Demand Response program enrollment (PG&E Capacity Bidding Program). Equipment procurement runs concurrently. The most variable element is PG&E's interconnection queue — in high-demand areas (Bay Area, Sacramento), this runs 10–16 weeks. VoltBlock tracks your application and manages the process.
Physical installation of BESS cabinets, solar, and Battery Management System. Once installed, we commission the system to ensure everything is in working order, complete AHJ and fire inspections, utility interconnection, and permission to operate granted to facility.
VoltBlock provides ongoing monitoring, monthly performance reports, and annual dispatch optimization reviews. As PG&E rates change, as your facility operations evolve, and as the battery ages, the dispatch strategy is tuned to maintain peak demand reduction. This lifecycle management is the difference between a system that performs at year 15 and one that quietly degrades.
